Ponta de piadade, algarve beach

Head into Tavira where you can catch an inexpensive ferry from the town centre. They run frequently and the journey is just 20 minutes through the beautiful Ria Formosa natural park. The journey takes you to the Ilha de Tavira which is an island sand bar with miles of glorious unspoilt beaches. It’s a quick walk from the jetty through some pine trees to the beaches and there are lots of facilities on the island, so no need to drag supplies with you.

The beaches are vast so you’ll find plenty of space for you and your clan. Great for making base camp and having space to play football or tennis, all in view, without danger of upsetting anyone else or getting sand and a ball in the face!
